The First Sip
Hey Sunday Brewers!
Did you know that you have 6,000 of *these* every day?
Or that you may be unintentionally ignoring 88% of millennial prospects?
What about the fact that the U.S. achieved something this week for the first time since 1969?
It’s all inside!
But first, here’s something good that happened this week…
“Sweetest thing ever!” the Facebook post reads.
Beneath it is a picture of 26-year-old firefighter Ryan Benton and a little girl huddled together on the side of a dusky road in Billings, Montana.
In Ryan’s hand is a children’s storybook illuminated by his phone’s flashlight.
He grabbed the book out of the fire engine when he arrived at the scene
“This allowed her to calm down and allowed the parents the ability to focus on getting some sense of normalcy back after a traumatic event like an accident,” said a fire department spokesperson.
Come to find out, Billings fire responders always carry bags of books and stuffed animals to give to children in traumatic situations.
And this isn’t the first time a young child has been comforted by their efforts.
“A few years ago we experienced the firefighters giving my kids stuffed animals after a fire,” one Facebook commenter wrote.
“My girls remember that more than the fire. It was definitely something we will always be thankful for!”
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to brighten up a dark situation.

When you consider that your eyes send your brain 10 million bytes of imagery data every single second…
Or that your brain has 6,000 spontaneous thoughts each day…
It’s kind of miraculous that we’re ever able to focus longer than a few seconds at a time.
And as short as attention spans are, it turns out that focus can actually be trained & developed (much like any muscle).
Here are some neuroscientist-approved brain “workouts” for increasing focus:
🧠💥 Take 15-20 breaths, each time identifying the exact spot in your body where you feel it most.
🧠💥 When brushing your teeth, avoid turning your attention to thinking about other things. Only focus on the specific act of brushing your teeth.
🧠💥 Short-form digital content has killed our ability to focus. To counteract this, read at least two print books per month. This trains your brain to explore complex subjects (rather than only looking for quick answers).
☕ TL;DR: Exercise your brain in order to increase your focus.

Honestly, some of these answers surprised me!
🔹 Stunning decline. Weekly jobless claims dropped to 199k this week – marking the lowest number since 1969. It’s also a steep decline since early January, when jobless claims were around 904k.
🔹 Home for the holidays. In what’s typically a slower season for real estate transactions, an unusual 5% surge in holiday home buying is driving mortgage demand higher for the third consecutive week.
🔹 Big statement. America’s biggest bank, JPMorgan, says Ethereum could be a safer bet than Bitcoin as interest rates rise.
Enjoy your Sunday,
