But before we get to that…here’s a quick story to make you smile 😊
A teenage girl in Washington D.C. was desperately trying to make it home to her family in Williamsburg, Virginia over the holidays…
…when the weather had other plans.
A massive snowstorm made it impossible for her to take a train, so she turned to Uber.
But as the snow continued to fall, I-95 became blocked.
And suddenly, her Uber driver became more than a chauffeur.
DaVante Williams says the girl became very emotional and overwhelmed…
…so he took on the role of “comforter.”
“She would call her parents to communicate what was going on,” he recalls “She was overwhelmed…all she wanted to do was get home.”
DaVante kept the girl in good spirits, gave her his last bottle of water, and even got on the phone with her parents to reassure them she was safe.
Little did the two of them know that they would spend SIX hours stranded on the interstate.
But DaVante’s kindness didn’t stop there.
Knowing how exhausted (and far from home) she was, he booked a hotel room for her so that she could get some sleep and make new travel plans.
He even offered to drive her the rest of the way home after the roads were clear at no charge.
(Thankfully, a family friend was able to pick her up and get her home.)
After learning of his kindness, Uber reimbursed him for the hotel room and other expenses.
He’s also been offered a management position for Ride Alto (an upscale ride-sourcing service).
Sometimes it pays to do the right thing!

Struggling to focus in the middle of the workday?
One of my favorite ways to kick my brain into “high gear” is by listening to music, which…
- Triggers the release of dopamine in the brain
- Tricks your brain into being in the present
- Sparks creativity
- Enhances productivity
But before you go cranking Lynyrd Skynyrd or jamming out to The Eagles, I should let you know that there are specific kinds of music that enhance focus…like:
- Classical music (leads to 12% increase in performance)
- Binaural beats (specifically at a frequency of 13–30 Hz)
- Nature music (masks other distracting noises)
Pop on a pair of noise-canceling headphones, pull up your favorite streaming app, and get to work!
P.S. If you really need to get pumped up to do a task, try listening to motivational cinematic scores.
☕ TL;DR: Listening to the right kind of music can increase your focus.

🔹 Trending Up. Inflation has officially increased by 7% over the past year, which is the fastest pace since 1982. (FYI: Pizza is not immune.)
🔹 Falling Behind. Tax season could be pure, unadulterated chaos. The IRS says they still have 6 million unprocessed tax returns from 2020, which leads many experts to believe 2021 refunds could face long delays.
🔹 Looking Ahead. There are 10 things advisors need to watch for in 2022. (Hint: Inflation is one of them…but it goes much deeper.)
