“Success is not the absence of failure. It’s the persistence through failure.”

Hey Sunday Brewers!

There’s an entire week of potential in front of you…what are you going to do with it?

Start the week off right by learning…

🔥  How to break free from worry

🔥  3 keys to writing more effective marketing bullets

🔥  How to instantly make your emails more conversational

But first…a wholesome story of how far people go for the ones they love…

To the millions of people in the streets of Bombay, he’s a rickshaw driver.

At home, he’s a dad, grandfather, and provider.

His name is Desraj Ji, and he’s been through a lot recently – losing both of his sons in tragic accidents in a span of just two years.

After their deaths, his granddaughter asked him if she’d have to quit school.

Desraj assured her that she would not.

To fulfill his promise, he started working even longer hours – often leaving the home at 6 in the morning and not returning until midnight.

Some days there was hardly any food to eat, but when Desraj’s granddaughter said she wanted to travel to Delhi for a university degree, he couldn’t say no

“I had to fulfill her dreams… at any cost,” he said. “So, I sold our house and paid her fee.”

Desraj sent his family to live with a relative in their village while he stayed behind to work – sleeping in his rickshaw each night.

“I can’t wait for her to become a teacher, so that I can hug her and say, ‘You’ve made me so proud.’ She’s going to be the first graduate in our family,” he said.

After hearing his story recently, an online fundraiser was launched to help Desra buy a house. The equivalent of $32,000 USD was raised.

Just goes to show that kindness and humanity are still alive and well!

Worry and anxiety are designed to be transient states – coming and going in a moment’s notice.

Unfortunately, they’re also capable of being established as habits.

If you deal with chronic worry and anxiety, psychiatrists like Dr. Judson Brewer say the key is to prevent these habitual loops from developing by mapping out the “sequence of thoughts” that lead to these emotions.

When you do this, you more easily disrupt the flow and curtail the negative downstream effects.

Interested in how this works practically?

This podcast episode with Dr. Brewer is enormously helpful.

My favorite quote from the interview?

“If we change our relationship with our emotions we can stop feeding them, and at the same time when they do show up we don’t resist them, because that resistance is part of the feeding: ‘what we resist persists.’”

☕  TL;DR: Researchers say anxiety is a habit that can be broken.

Marketing Psychology Quick Hit

In copywriting, we use the term “bullets” to describe short, pithy statements that stand alone in an email or other form of marketing promotion.

Typically, bullets are used to evoke curiosity, grab attention, and get people to take action.

As an advisor who is serious about marketing, learning to write effective bullets is a worthwhile endeavor.

I could create a whole course on the fundamentals of writing good bullets, but here are some important keys:

  • Think of each bullet as a mini headline – concise and attention-grabbing
  • Sell the sizzle – not the steak (get people excited without revealing everything)
  • Vary your bullets in length, verbiage, and style to keep readers engaged

If you remember these three principles when writing bullets, you’ll see an instant lift in blog traffic, webinar attendance, etc.

☕  TL;DR: Learn to write effective bullets and take your marketing skills to the next level.

Weekly Industry Catch-Up

🔹 Pump hikes. With gas prices continuing to surge at the pump – and the threat of an EU ban on Russian oil potentially looming – lawmakers are racking their brains for ways to protect American wallets. California is considering a controversial $9 billion proposal

🔹 Caution! Uncertainty ahead. Crypto has quietly had a nice week – gradually inching up, while still trading in a relatively tight range. But experts say more volatility is ahead for Bitcoin in 2022.

🔹 HaaS. Apple is reportedly thinking about launching a new hardware subscription service for iPhones. The result would be more recurring revenue and a potential surge in stock price.
