The First Sip
When Alexander Campagna and his wife, Andrea, saw the forecast for an epic weekend blizzard in their hometown of Buffalo, they stocked up.
They’ve experienced plenty of snowstorms over the years, but they had a feeling this one was going to be epic.
Both big fans of Korean food, they loaded up on enough mirin, soy sauce, red pepper paste, sesame oil, chili flakes, beef, and kimchi to host a small feast.
As fate would have it, they’d end up needing every bit of it.
On Friday at 2pm, the Campagna’s doorbell rang.
And much to their surprise, two men stood at the front door asking for shovels to dig their passenger van out of a snowy ditch.
The men were part of a group of 10 tourists from South Korea who were traveling to Niagara Falls when their bus got stuck.
Knowing that the bus wasn’t going anywhere for at least a day or two, Alexander and Andrea graciously became “accidental innkeepers.”
The visitors, which included 7 women and 3 men, ended up staying for two nights.
They filled the 3-bedroom house by sleeping on couches, sleeping bags, air mattresses, and a guest bed.
The stranded visitors spent the weekend watching football, swapping stories, and…yes…preparing delicious Korean home-cooked meals, like jeyuk bokkeum, dakdori tang.
“We were tired, but it was exciting,” Mr. Choi said. “The blizzard was unexpected but it allowed us to experience a warm welcome from real Americans.”
Those sentiments were mutual…
“We have enjoyed this so much,” Alexander said, calling it a “unique blessing,” and adding that the experience has inspired the couple to visit South Korea. “We will never forget this.”

There’s a whole movement of people online who wake up by 5AM to conquer the day.
Hashtags like #5to9 and #5amclub dominate TikTok…
…while influencers like retired US Navy SEAL officer Jocko Willink post daily photos of their watches at 4:30AM.
And while you might think waking this early is a little crazy, there’s a reason it’s often the secret ingredient to successful people…
…it works!
According to German biologist Christoph Randler, early risers are more likely to anticipate problems and efficiently solve them, leading to more success in the business world.
January is the perfect month to try out a new morning routine.
But if a pre-dawn wakeup call is new territory for you, it might feel a bit intimidating.
Consider using the popular 20/20/20 Framework to get started:
- First 20 minutes = Exercise
- Next 20 minutes = Education
- Next 20 minutes = Self-Reflection
Follow this method and you’ll already have accomplished more than a lot of people do in an entire day…
…and it’s not even 6AM!
☕ TL;DR: Crush the day with the 20/20/20 Framework
