The First Sip

Imagine walking downstairs one day and discovering that your child or grandchild is secretly a musical savant.

That’s what happened when Isaiah Kofie woke up one morning to hear his 11-year-old autistic son, Jude, playing the keyboard like he’d spent his entire life training.

Only he had NEVER taken lessons before.

“I was here watching the news when I heard him play something,” Isaiah said.

“So I grabbed my phone, went down there, and was like, ‘Dude, play that again.'”

Jude has overcome his fair share of hurdles in his young life – including heart surgery as a baby.

But it appears he’s finally found his true love – his passion in life.

And others believe in him, too….including a professional Colorado piano tuner by the name of Bill Magnusson.

When Bill saw Jude’s amazing story on Denver’s local news a few months ago…

…he knew he was listening to an extraordinary talent.

So he called up the station and asked if they could put him in touch with Jude and Isaiah.

At the time, Jude was practicing on an old electric keyboard.

Bill decided to buy him a grand piano for the living room.

Isaiah was floored by the gift, saying he never could have afforded a piano this nice.

But for Bill it was an easy decision.

“The ripple effects for the next 70 or 80 years are incalculable,” he says. “It’s not just for him. It’s for all the people he’s going to touch.”

Ever wondered how criminal investigators are so good at detecting when someone isn’t being truthful?

They’re trained to watch and listen to small cues.

With a little practice, you can also pick up on these nuances and lessen your chances of being taken advantage of in business.

Here are some signs that someone is likely being dishonest with you:

  • They give short, general answers to specific questions
  • They either stare you down OR don’t make eye contact at all
  • Their breathing speeds up and slows down
  • They pitch of their voice changes or cracks when talking
  • They frequently touch their nose when talking
  • They don’t speak in complete sentences (i.e. trailing off)

On the flip side, the absence of these factors indicate that someone is most likely telling the truth.

There…I just gave you a new superpower for 2023.

Marketing Psychology Quick Hit

I’m all about GIVING away value.

💎 Valuable content

💎 Valuable nuggets of wisdom

💎 Valuable lead magnets

💎 Etc.

But you need to be mindful of HOW you’re giving away value.

There’s such a thing as being TOO forthcoming.

In order to maximize the effectiveness of your marketing and prospecting efforts, I recommend leveraging the power of CURIOSITY.

Here’s what I mean by that…

Always leave a knowledge gap.

Always tease what you’re doing without giving everything away.

The objective is to make people click, download, attend, book an appointment,  fill in the blank

And that’s much easier to do if you’re NOT giving away the whole enchilada.

If you’re writing a headline for a landing page, it’s not…

🔹 SS teetering. Interesting findings from a new study on Social Security show 33% believe SS will run out of money and stop making payments. Another 31% believe they’ll need to get retirement money sooner than planned, while only 11% say they’ll wait until age 70.

🔹 Where’s the wealth going? 1,200 ultra-HNW members of the Tiger 21 network (worth a collective $130 billion) aren’t interested in playing the stock market during the recession. Instead, 70% say they’re focusing on real estate investments – namely multi-family units, storage units, and medical facilities – until they feel the “bottom” hits Wall St.

🔹 Rates rise. Mortgage demand in the U.S. dipped 13.2% in the last week of 2022, as interest rates soared to 6.58%. That mark is nearly 2X the 3.33% rate at the end of 2021. Experts say significant rate reductions are necessary for real estate activity to pick back up.
