Hey Sunday Brewers!

In today’s issue, there’s one word that makes 75% of financial prospects more likely to work with you (and it’s not ‘money’).

You’ll never guess what Coinbase’s first employee was paid with… 🤯

What a sunrise and sunset can do to productivity…

And how we spiked registration traffic by 793%….in just 72 hours

But before I get to that…

Let’s dive into the story of this amazing ‘Canadian Lassie’.. 🍁

It’s a story about a young woman named Haley and her pup Clover.

One morning, the dynamic duo was on their usual morning walk in a sleepy Ottawa neighborhood when something strange happened…

Haley began having a seizure….

…and it was all captured on a neighbor’s security camera.

As Haley helplessly collapsed on the side of the road, Clover quickly sprang into action.

The video starts with Clover checking on Haley.

Her curiosity turns into concern and she gets the sense that everything is not okay.

So what does the good girl do?

She runs out into the middle of the road and strategically blocks the path of an oncoming pickup truck…

essentially forcing the driver to pull over and get out.

“It was really impressive, the dog actually blocked my way. She kind of backed into the road to block my truck,” recalls the driver.

And if it weren’t for the dog, the driver probably never would have noticed Haley.

But thankfully he stopped…

and was able to call paramedics to the scene.

Haley has since recovered.

And while the doctors still aren’t sure what caused the seizure, one thing is for certain…

…Clover isn’t leaving her side!

While no animals were harmed in the telling of this tale, there were at least 17 “Sorrys” shared by Haley for all the hullabaloo.

Sunrises and sunsets are more than artistic expressions of nature.

Researchers have discovered that during these periods,

yellows get brighter and blues get darker – and that this distinct contrast gets relayed directly to the brain.

This isn’t something you necessarily perceive on a cognitive level. (Even blind people are able to transmit this information to their brains.) 🤯

However, it is something that has a significant impact on your overall health and well-being.

In the AM…

These yellow signals tells your brain to flush the body with a healthy pulse of cortisol.

This cortisol provides the energy you need for the day and agitates your body so that it’s ready to spring into action.

In the PM…

The blue pre-programs the onset of a melatonin pulse in the evening (which helps you fall asleep).

The viewing of morning sunlight and evening sunlight helps anchor your health for the day by telling you when to be alert and when to fall asleep.

If you want to enjoy more energy, less brain fog, and improved focus throughout the day, health coaches recommend getting 2-10 minutes of natural light exposure first thing in the morning upon waking.

Whether you go outside and watch the sunrise or you look out your back window for several minutes as you enjoy your breakfast, just remember to get some natural light!

☕  TL;DR: Spend a couple of minutes getting natural light exposure first thing in the AM. Your 🧠 will thank you.

Marketing Psychology Quick Hit

Did you know that 70% of customers expect a personalized experience when they deal with any type of business – and particularly an insurance or financial advisor?

Or what about the fact that 75% of consumers are more inclined to purchase from someone who knows their name?

One of the amazing things about using LinkedIn as a lead generation tool is that the platform gives you an exhaustive list of personalized information about every single prospect you run across.

Name? ✅

Career? ✅

Education? ✅

Accomplishments? ✅

It’s never been easier to collect detailed information about a prospect.

The question is, are you using it to your advantage?

Research shows that 3 out of 4 consumers like it when a business recommends products/services based on their preferences

So if you find a detail on a prospect’s profile that makes you think they could be a good fit for a 401(k) rollover…

Estate plan…

Whole life policy…

Etc…

Let them know!

Most prospects will at least appreciate that you took the time to recommend something tailored to their needs.

☕  TL;DR: We’re all obsessed with hearing our own names. Call prospects by their names and make personalized recommendations based on their LinkedIn profiles.

Weekly Industry Catch-Up

What a difference 365 days makes…

This time last year, the markets were in a state of shellshock, Bitcoin was trading around $6,000, spending was down…and toilet paper was a rare commodity.

Don’t look now…but markets are booming, crypto is legit, and 50% of the country is at least partially vaccinated.

Time is a beautiful thing…

Here’s a look at some major happenings of the past week:

🔹 “Street” Cred. Bitcoin reached new highs this week, and Coinbase made history as the first major crypto company to go public. The $85.5 billion valuation made $COIN the largest direct listing IPO in history.

Anyone who’s held Bitcoin for more than several months is ecstatic right now, but nobody’s as happy as >> Coinbase Employee #1 << (who landed the gig via a cold email in 2013).

For the first couple of years, he was paid entirely in Bitcoin…with a starting salary of $50,000.

You do the math.

🔹 Lift-off 🚀. Research from Bank of America shows more money has gone into stock-based funds over the past 5 months than the previous 12 years…COMBINED!

And though things have felt a little speculative at times, market strategist Art Hogan believes there’s a lot of logic to the markets right now, saying.

In his words; “The driver is clearly an explosion in economic activity that likely will have some earnings growth in its wake.”

🔹 Coiled up. Part of the reason the economy is doing just fine is that American consumers have $2 trillion (with a T) more in cash in their checking accounts than they did prior to COVID.

Consumer spending has already returned to pre-pandemic levels and many are using their sudden influx of cash to pay down loans.

Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan says U.S. consumers are “coiled and ready to go.”
