Hey Sunday Brewers!

Steal a few quiet moments this morning with a cup of your favorite brew and discover an enjoyable way to instantly feel 40% calmer.

You’ll also learn how to carefully choose words that appeal to prospects in any sales situation..

Plus, get access to the 1-line phrase that gets cold & warm prospects alike to open up.

And that’s just the start!

It’s the last ‘Brew of the year…dive in…it won’t burn!

It was 21 years ago when Gladys Hankerson picked up the phone and tried to call her sister in Maryland.

But instead of dialing the 410 area code, she accidentally reversed the last two digits and placed a phone call to a 401 area code.

Mike Moffitt from Rhode Island picked up.

As Mike recalls, Gladys was very apologetic about having the wrong number.

“She’s really Southern, very hospitable, polite, and very sweet. She said, ‘I’m so sorry, child!’ and then hung up real quick,” he recalls.

But that wouldn’t be the last time the two would chat.

Gladys rang several more times over the following weeks…each time unintentionally.

At one point, Mike told her to hold on and started asking her questions.

That’s where the friendship began.

And for Gladys, she believes their friendship was more than a coincidence. It came to her at one of the most difficult times in her life.

Not only was she fresh off a divorce, but she had recently lost her son (who happened to be around Mike’s age).

“He talked real nice to me and I talked real nice to him, and after that I had his phone number and I put it down on paper and I always called him,” Gladys says.

The two now talk regularly every couple of weeks – sharing life (and plenty of laughs).

And just a couple of weeks ago, they were able to meet in person for the first time.

“Oh it was such a great day. That made my day,” said Gladys.

“I wish more people could be like that, you know? That would be so nice, the world would be better too…people would be better.”

After their meeting, Mike shared a picture of the two on Facebook.

The caption read: “There are incredible people in this world that are just a wrong number phone call away.”

It reveals that, in addition to increasing blood flow and providing a host of physical perks…

…walking your dog offers a double-play benefit of:

🧠  Reducing stress-inducing MHPG levels

🧠  Boosting GABA levels (the “calming” chemical) by up to 40%

So in case you needed an excuse to walk your dog, here it is.

I’m giving you full permission to grab a leash and take Fido for a walk!

☕  TL;DR: Take your dog for a walk and feel up to 40% calmer!

Marketing Psychology Quick Hit

As the English-playwright once said: The pen is mightier than the sword.

Words have power…both in your personal life and in prospecting.

They can be used to conjure up specific emotions, persuade, and even comfort and reassure people.

In sales and marketing, there are categories of words that are often referred to as “God” terms and “Devil” terms.

God terms are charismatic phrases that evoke positivity and appeal to a prospect’s needs, wants, and desires – such as:

  • Safety: guarantee, proven
  • Control: powerful, strong
  • Understanding: because, as, so, truth, real

Devil terms aren’t evil, but they do have a negative connotation. Examples include:

  • Safety: dangerous,
  • Control: uncertain, scarce
  • Understanding: change, complicated

Both categories of phrases can be used to engage prospects.

For the 40% of people who are pleasure motivated, use God terms.

For the 40% of people who are pain motivated, use Devil terms.

For the 20% of people who go both ways, use a tactful blend.

☕  TL;DR: Choose specific words to evoke specific emotions in prospects.

Weekly Industry Catch-Up

🔹 Worse off? In a new Bankrate survey, 26% of Americans believe their financial situation will get worse in 2022, while 42% believe it’ll stay the same. Inflation was cited as the primary concern for the “glass half empty” folks.

🔹 ‘Tis better to give. In a recent survey 68% of people said they were more eager to give gifts than receive them this holiday season. Approximately 57% said they added more names to their shopping lists this season.

🔹 Tax-King. Elon Musk clapped back at the haters who claim he doesn’t pay his fair share of taxes by boasting: “I will pay over $11 billion in taxes this year.” That’s like 125k Teslas.
