Oh, yeah….and HUGS!
In fact, let’s start this thing off with some hugs.. Because, hugs. 😊
“We just saw him hugging her for, I don’t know, I want to say five minutes if that.
“But it was a real hug.”
That’s what Carlos Gonzales of Norwalk, CT told reporters about a local garbage man’s act of kindness.
Gonzales says the man, Mike Nance, stopped his truck after seeing a young lady on the sidewalk who appeared to be down on her luck.
“Any time you see somebody walking around with everything that they own, talking to themselves—I don’t know. It just took over me,” Nance said.
He talked with her.
Hugged her.
And asked her if he could say a quick prayer.
Then he gave her some cash to get something to eat.
“After we saw him do that, we made her a little breakfast and brought it over to her. It’s a domino effect,” Gonzales said.
Nance had plenty to do that day – and he could have just as easily driven by and avoided what surely could have been an awkward exchange.
But in his eyes, that wouldn’t have been right.
“I’m a garbage man. We’re about the community. I’m about the community. I love Norwalk. I’m from Norwalk. I was born here,” he said.
“So whatever I can do to help, that’s what I’m going to do.”
Wow…
Can we get a hug now?

If someone would have told you 20 years ago that 95% of your work time would eventually be spent at your computer, it would have been hard to believe.
Yet that’s where we are.
And for all of the good that technology offers – including efficiency, access, reach, and automation – it can also be VERY distracting.
My question for you is simple…
Do you ever have trouble staying focused while working on your computer?
You’re not alone.
My suggestion is to download one of these distraction-blocking apps and to turn it on anytime you need to get some “deep work” done.
You’ll have to figure out what exactly you want/need, but both of these have some pretty useful features.
Even if it saves you just 20 minutes a day, that could be 80 or 90 hours of extra productivity.
That’s worth it.
☕ TL;DR: Use one of these distraction-blocking apps to reclaim your productivity in the office.

🔹 Virtual = new normal. A new survey reveals 56% of small business owners have seen their productivity and leadership strengthened by working remotely over the past couple of years. 7 in 10 say they’ve had business opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have.
🔹 Money well spent. It’s hard to know the long-term effects of pandemic-related stimulus payments, but this study suggests 92% of families who received Child Tax Credit payments were able to “stabilize” their finances using the monthly checks.
🔹 Inching up. Mortgage rates – like everything else – are officially on the rise. Rates are reaching close toward 4%, up from 3.69% last week to 3.92% this week. Despite this, home prices continue to soar.
