The First Sip
Two weeks ago, I introduced you to 10-year-old Nandi Bushell who found herself a friendly drum-off challenge with Foo Fighters’ frontman, Dave Grohl.
And I’m pleased to announce that the BATTLE is still on!
After Nandi was able to match him in round one, he conceded defeat.
“You got me,” he said in his most recent video, before going on to write and perform his very own “Nandi Theme Song” for the incredible young drummer.
I’d highly encourage you to go check it out – including the precious video of Nandi watching Dave perform her new “theme song.”
As I remind our community every week, there’s a lot of good happening in the world…and we should all aim to be a part of it!
In what ways can you be a force for good this week?

If you’ve followed us for any amount of time, you know that the whole Advisorist team is big on both health and learning .
So any time we see a crossover between the two, we geek out a bit. 🤓
And just this past week, I stumbled upon a brand new study that shows just 2 MINUTES of exercise can improve learning and memory function in adults.
Yep…120 seconds.
The researchers concluded that even a short burst of aerobic activity led to “improved learning memory, planning and problem solving, concentration…(and) verbal fluency.”
Best of all…the effects last for up to 2 HOURS!
Regular “exercise breaks” like this are something my team and I have practiced for years.
I’d highly recommend you do the same.
In fact, this week I’m challenging you to get up and move more often.
Whether it’s doing a few pushups in your office, walking your dog around the block, running up and down a couple of flights of stairs…do something to get that blood flowing!
Marketing Psychology Quick Hit
It’s the sixth and final week in our series on the Gestalt Laws and how they can be leveraged in design and marketing.
Today, we’re discussing The Law of Common Region.
It says that the human brain groups elements that appear to be in the same closed region.
In the following example, your brain perceives the six vertical rows on the left as being grouped together – set apart from the four vertical rows on the right hand side.
The dots are all equally spaced apart, yet you see them as two separate groupings.
When designing your website, a landing page, or even a PDF lead magnet, grouping similar products with visual cues will cut through confusion and establish clarity.
While many of the Gestalt Laws overlap and seem somewhat repetitive, I’d encourage you to go back and review each of them.
The principles are subtle – particularly for someone who isn’t a graphic designer by trade – but they help us understand how the human brain perceives information.
And at the end of the day, any time you can help your prospects and clients understand something more clearly…
Well, that’s a win for both them and you.
Do This First Thing Monday AM
Mark Twain once said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning.”
In other words, do the thing you LEAST want to do FIRST thing in the morning and you’ll prevent an entire day of procrastination and dread.
It’s Sunday, which means we can all name that one thing we really don’t want to deal with this coming week.
What is it for you?
It might be returning a call from a client who just chewed you out.
Or maybe it’s a marathon of data entry that you don’t want to slog through.
Whatever it is, I want you to write yourself an email…
(Yep…I’m giving you permission to talk to yourself.)
…and tell yourself to do that thing FIRST.
When you turn on your computer in the morning, that email will be sitting there staring back at you.
Then all you have to do is…eat the frog.
